PREPOSITIONS
Prepositions link nouns, pronouns and other phrases to words in a sentence. Preposition actually means 'something that is placed before'. It will show where one thing is, in relation to another:
Common prepositions:
through - by - up - off - along - behind - in front of - across - from over around - in
- The rug is on the floor
- The key is under the mat, or in the door
- The cat ran across the street
Do not put two prepositions together. It is neither correct nor attractive to hear. An example is:
- He got off of the bus
